Swimable’s Term 2 Superstar:

Maya

The team at Swimable would like to make a special mention to one of our favourite elite swimmers in the making. Maya is an 8-year-old swimming power house whose determination and drive to improve has blown away every single teacher who has had the pleasure of having her in their class.
Her sensational swimming success story at Swimable began humbly in 2019 in Starfish class, but since then nothing could stop Maya’s meteoric might. Not even COVID-19 could keep her down, maintaining her swim training between lockdowns, even insisting on attending two classes a week at one point! Mayas hard work and persistence has paid off, moving up three levels in the span of 12 months.
Whether Maya will be making an appearance at the 2032 Brisbane Olympics remains to be seen, but her unstoppable persistence and strong work ethic leaves her well prepared to go for gold in whatever endeavor she chooses

Unfortunately all classes from 26/04/2022 – 01/05/2022 are cancelled due to a pool heater issue. These classes have been rescheduled in the first week of the school holidays (28/06/2022 – 03/07/2022). If you are unable to make the rescheduled class, please let us know and we will help you reschedule it for another day this term.

Our sincere apologies, the situation is outside of our control. Thank you for your understanding.

Shruthi Mahalingam has commenced as Swimable’s new Manager.

Shruthi has a Bachelor of Commerce and a Master of Business (Sport Management).  She was previously working as an aquatic supervisor and swimming teacher.  In addition to being a champion swimmer while at university, Shruthi was awarded Best Sportsperson of the years 2015-2018 for excellence in academics and sports during her undergraduate degree. She also has significant Customer Service experience which will be invaluable in continuing to maintain the high level of service expected by our customers.

Zoe Ness has stepped down from the role of Pool Operations Manager and will be studying for her Masters in Music Therapy commencing late February 2022. She will continue to work for Swimable on a casual basis in the office, teaching and on pool deck to the extent that her university demands allow.

Amy Pizer will work her last day as Office Manager on 12 February and will be commencing a full time graduate position with KPMG.  She will help out occasionally to cover pool deck on Saturday mornings.

Please join me in welcoming Shruthi to the team and thanking both Zoe and Amy for the amazing contributions that they have made to Swimable.

Warm regards,

Veronica Pizer

Well done Jamie!

Jamie, who has recently moved up to Dolphin, came 1st in the 50m mixed freestyle race and 2nd in the 25m mixed backstroke race in her school’s swimming carnival. Well done Jamie!

Update – 17/12/2020

Dear Swimable Families,

The office will be closed from the 19th of December to the 3rd of January.

The January Holiday Program is being run from the 18th of January to the 22nd of January and is almost full so if you would like your child to have some lessons before Term 1call now! Term 1 commences on the 28th of January, 2021.

We wish everyone a happy Christmas and look forward to seeing you in the New Year!

Reopening Update – 30/10/2020

Dear Swimable Families,

We hope you are all doing well and are as eager to get back into the pool as we are.

As much as we would like to open on 9 November, 2020 (when indoor pools are expected to be first permitted to open), given that is halfway through Term 4 it is not feasible for us to open in 2020. Our scheduled reopening is Term 1, 2021, commencing on the 28th of January.

We plan to run a one week intensive holiday program 18-22 January, should there be sufficient demand.  This would be a great opportunity to get ready for Term 1 after such a long break from lessons. During that week those who made payment in advance for the 2020 March/April holiday program will be able to book in for the program. Those who are owed make up lessons due to the forced closure on 23 March, 2020, will be able to book their individual make-up lessons.

To aid us in planning for our reopening, we have sent a short 2-minute questionnaire to our customers.

For many of you it will have been a long time since your children have been swimming so we encourage you to take extra care when supervising your children this summer at the beach or in the pool.

We look forward to seeing you early next year!

Reopening Update – 30/09/2020

Dear Swimable families,

While outdoor pools have been allowed to open up under heavily restricted conditions with the announcement made on Sunday, we still have no details about when and under what conditions indoor pools will be able to reopen.  Unfortunately, this means that we will not be able to reopen until Term 1, 2021.

We had hoped to be back for Term 4, 2020 but it is not possible to immediately open when we finally are allowed. There is a great deal of work involved in scheduling classes, staffing, and updating and operationalising COVID Safe Plans once we are provided with information regarding the restrictions that we will be required to adhere to.  The students have already missed Terms 2 & 3 and it would not be practical to come back for just a few weeks before the long Summer holiday.

Please be assured, those customers who made payment for Term 2 and/or the April 2020 holiday program in advance will have their credit applied in Term 1, 2021.  We will look at opening the week prior to Term 1 to provide the make-up lessons to the students who missed the last week of Term 1, 2020 due to business being shut down.

We are hoping that the case numbers continue to decline so that Melbourne is able to move to the next step after 19th October, 2020.  Please stay safe.  We look forward to a great year in 2021.

Best regards,

Team Swimable

We hope everyone is staying happy and healthy while we wait to find out when we may be able to re-open. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1GzgIjZmx5hOS29LqrG7EdutjhyqncmZY/view?usp=sharing

COVID-19 Update

Following the announcement made by Daniel Andrews’ on the 7th of July, unfortunately we have to postpone our re-opening which was tentatively scheduled for July 20.

For those who have already been in contact with us and made bookings for Term 3, we will leave those bookings in the system so that we have an indication of your preferences when we are able to reopen. Please be assured, for any customers who made payment for Term 2/holiday program in advance, your credit will be applied when you return to lessons.

We are disappointed that we need to postpone but hope that these restrictions help all Swimable families and staff stay safe and healthy. We cannot wait to see you all back in the pool.
