Terms & Conditions

LESSON FEES

Enrolment in lessons is a full-term commitment. Group lesson term fees are payable in full by the due date which is generally 10 days before the commencement of the term unless you have signed up for a monthly Direct Debit. You may also elect to pay the full amount by Direct Debit either from your bank account or credit card. A Direct Debit Request form must be signed to commence payments via Direct Debit.

Payments in full by credit card can also be made at the pool reception desk, or by clicking on the link on the email with your invoice attached or by calling the office and paying over the telephone.

Payments by cash can be made at the pool reception desk.

Private Lessons must also be paid in advance. Weekly payments are acceptable provided that payment is made at least 24 hours in advance of each scheduled lesson but paying week by week will be at the higher casual rate and availability cannot be guaranteed. If you commit for the entire term and pay 100% up front before the commencement of the term, you will qualify for the discounted Private Lesson rate.

If we incur any charges for dishonoured payments of any type, the dishonour fee will be on-charged in addition to the balance owing.

WITHDRAWAL FROM LESSONS

Once a student is enrolled, the enrolment is considered ongoing (and will automatically rollover for the next term) until we receive notice in writing that the student will cease attending lessons. If a notice to cease lessons is not recieved, an invoice will be generated at the same time as rollover. If payment is not recieved by the due date the booking will be removed and invoice cancelled. Any bookings that are removed for non-payment will be subject to a rebooking fee to contribute to the administration cost of re-booking and re-invoicing.

Where attendance is ceased, or the written cancellation received once payment is made, there will be no refunds available under any circumstances. Fees paid may be transferred to the following term in exceptional circumstances, which will be considered on a case by case basis.

To cancel a Private Lesson at least 24 hours’ notice must be received within normal business hours by Customer Service, otherwise the full lesson fee is applied and is non-refundable.

TEACHER CHANGES

Although we endeavour to provide consistent teachers, we are unable to guarantee it as the majority of our staff are employed on a casual basis. We understand some swimmers or parents may become fond of particular teachers. We always try our best to respond to your requests but cannot promise a particular teacher and we reserve the right to make changes as required by the program. From time-to-time trainee teachers will be shadowing the regular teachers as this is a necessary part of becoming a qualified swimming teacher.

ILLNESS

Please respect our precautionary health rules. If your child is suffering from any contagious disease (including COVID-19, molluscum, flu, fever, head cold, runny infected nose, sore throat, cold sores and open wounds, vomiting, diarrhea, gastroenteritis, ringworm and head lice) please notify us that he/she will not be attending their lesson so that they will be eligible for a make-up lesson.

Where more than 4 weeks of lessons are missed due to serious medical conditions such as broken limbs, a credit toward lessons to be taken next term may be granted. A valid medical certificate must be provided from an independent Medical Practitioner. The medical certificate must state the reason for the absence and the dates for which the illness/injury will prevent attendance at lessons. Any credit granted must be used in full during the next term and cannot be redeemed for cash. A refund of fees is not available under any circumstances.

MAKE-UP LESSONS

Make-up lessons are potentially available for lessons missed due to illness or other reasons, provided all booked lessons have been paid for in full. A maximum of 2 make-up lessons per term will be granted. Notice of non-attendance for group lessons must be received 3 hours prior to the lesson commencement time for illness or injury reasons and 7 days prior if absence is due to travel/school camp or religious holidays, in order to be eligible to a make-up lesson.

We cannot guarantee to provide any make-up classes as it depends on whether there are places available. The ability to provide this service relies upon all customers advising us of any absence as soon as they are aware of it. Make-up lessons can be availed anytime during the term in which the notified absence occurred. They are not transferable to subsequent terms and fees are not deductible or refundable in lieu of make-up lessons not provided.

Private Lessons require 24 hours’ notice of an absence to be provided within normal business hours for illness or injury reasons and 7 days prior if absence is due to travel/school camp or religious holidays in order to qualify for re-scheduling of a lesson. Re-scheduling of the lesson is conditional on the lesson place either being filled with another class, or the instructor being laid off for the lesson time. If these conditions are not met a make-up lesson may only be granted in a group lesson.

Please see below for the absence policy relating to the Girls Only and Boys Only program.

DUTY OF CARE

All children under 10 years of age must be supervised by a guardian at all times while in the pool area. Guardians are responsible for placing their children into our instructors’ care at the commencement of each lesson and collecting them at the conclusion. Note: Parents/Guardians must not sit or stand at the pool edge – please use the seating provided on either side of the pool. Swimable accepts no responsibility for injury, personal property loss or damage sustained while on the premises, not resulting from negligence on our part.

LEISURE SWIMMING

No leisure swimming is available at Swimable . Patrons may not enter the pool except to participate in their lessons.

OUR STAFF RESPONSIBILITIES

If you have any questions or concerns, please discuss them with the Manager or Pool Deck Supervisor during lesson time. Alternatively, you may telephone and discuss with Swimable Customer Service during office hours. Please do not ask instructors or other staff members to pass on messages or comments at any time.

QUESTIONS AND CONCERNS

Our aim is to provide you and your children with the best possible service. If you are unhappy about anything regarding your child’s swimming, please contact Swimable management during Office Hours. We are here to help. If we are unaware of your concerns, we cannot deal with them appropriately.  Please note that many children take some time to settle into lessons and the development of skills and progression through our program will be different for every student.

ANTI-BULLYING

Swimable staff members are here to help and assist you. Please make sure you speak to them in a polite and friendly manner. Any form of abuse, discrimination, and/or threatening behaviour to our staff members will result in a refusal of entry. Should this happen, children booked with us (who are under the age of 10) will require an alternative guardian accompanying them to finish the term.

Terms & Conditions – Single Sex Program

Customers participating in the Girls Only and Boys Only sessions introduced due to requests by the Jewish community are subject to the same terms as customers in our mainstream program except for in regards to missed classes. The differences reflect the fact that we are unable to run our mainstream program and these special programs simultaneously and it is therefore very difficult to offer make-up lessons in the same way that we offer them for those in our mainstream program. The policy for missed lessons in the Boys Only and Girls Only sessions is outlined below.

ABSENCES & LESSON CREDIT

A single lesson credit per term may be granted for an absence provided we receive prior notice of the absence and all booked lessons have been paid for in full. Notice of non-attendance must be received 3 hours prior to the lesson commencement time for illness or injury reasons and 7 days prior if absence is due to travel/school camp in order to be entitled to the one-lesson credit. The one lesson credit applied to a customer’s account in the case of a notified absence must be used in the following term and the credit is not transferable to other future terms.

Private Lessons require 24 hours’ notice of an absence for illness or injury reasons and 7 days prior if absence is due to travel/school camp or religious holidays to be provided within normal business hours in order to qualify for the one-lesson credit. The credit being applied is conditional on the lesson place either being filled with another class, or the instructor being laid off for the lesson time. If these conditions are not met, the credit will only be for the cost of a group class.

The Girls Only and Boys Only programs will not run on Jewish holidays (dates agreed through consultation with customers prior to each term) and these class dates are not charged on the term invoice.

Where multiple lessons are missed due to serious medical conditions such as broken limbs, a credit toward lessons to be taken next term may be granted. Sufficient notice must be given and a valid medical certificate must be provided from an independent Medical Practitioner. The medical certificate must state the reason for the absence and the dates for which the illness/injury will prevent attendance at lessons. Any credit granted must be used in full during the next term and cannot be redeemed for cash. A refund of fees is not available under any circumstances.
